November--Pecan Festival

Kimball--always ready to use some tools--was happy to work with Dad to install a lock on the cabinet door. To pass the safety inspection for foster kids we needed to lock up ALL medications.

One day while walking through the house I saw something strange out of the corner of my eye. I peeked out the window to see a hawk (sitting on our wall)  gobbling up a pigeon. Although it's always sad to see an animal die, I thought if mother nature is going to work, I'm glad it will help control the pesky pigeon population :)

Swimming in November--Always a great thing! (Because we sure aren't swimming in January--it was 14 degrees when I dropped the boys off at school today).
One day when I was trying to jeep Kimball busy while Joey was finishing his homework. I had him write and this was his favorite. Chicin and postu for dinner.

Note Dad left when he had to go to a training

Playing at the park with friends

Our neighborhood is right next to a huge Pecan Grove. One Saturday the boys I I went to the Pecan Festival while Peter had to be at his hospital rotation. We had a lot of fun watching the tractor pull and seeing all the fun kinds of tractors.

The Pecan Factory is very good at reusing everything. They covered their many acres of property in old pecan shell mulch.
We had to wait a while in line for the horse-drawn hayride through the groves to see how their harvest them. Kimball was very entertained taking pictures, so I let him stay busy snapping as many as he wanted.

The hayride was fun. It was very interesting to see the big "claw" shake the trees to get all the pecan out. Then a big sweeper machine comes by and scoops them all off the ground.

After the ride we played on all the fun bounce houses and games. It was a great day of good FREE fun!  They had lots of games for the kids and prizes after each one.

After the lollipop tree game, the boys made their own Christmas globe ornament.

We ended the day getting to drive the remote control robots that the tech team at the high school made .  The boys were in heaven.
