Fall in the Mountains

One day in November Peter and I got to escape on a little date. He had "research day" which means you're supposed to be home doing research--seriously?!  We played instead because the boys were in school :)

We dorve the 30 minutes down south to Madera Canyon and were amazed at the beauty. The mountains were covered in bright green ever-green trees, and right lining the river bed was a long row of beautiful fall colored trees. The pictures don't do it justice!  We had a great time hiking straight up the side of the mountain and then resting to eat our picnic lunch. I just love going on fun dates with my hubby!

Just watch out of the illegals sneaking across the boarder. Peter loved this sign. We had to pull over and turn the car around so we could get a picture of it.

At the bottom we found this great tree that kept on growing despite being knocked over and hallowed out inside.
