Since the boys had a week of vacation in October, we decided to drive to California and take the boys to Disneyland
We started out on the tea cups and got nice and dizzy while dad went and fast passes.
Dumbo
It was fun to fly on a ship with Peter Pan
This is what Kimball did at least half of the day. Poor kid is scared of EVERYTHING! This was on the Pinocchio ride. Every time we got off he had to tell the ride operators that that ride was scary, and each time those nice teenagers apologized.
The cars were not scary at all. The boys loved getting their own drivers license.
The finding Nemo submarine--a little disapointing. We thought there would actually be real sea creatures in their. Guess were not at sea world any more toto.
We all loved to shoot the lazer guns in the Toy Story ride
Peter only walluped me that bad because he is trigger happy and I was trying to preserve precious family memories the entire time :)
Disney castle
Tarzan's tree house--a fun place to play
We got as big ice cream, cone to eat while we sat and waited for the parade to start
When we went back to the hotelt hat nigth and were eating dinner we were talking about the day, and Joey said something to tease Kimball about watching the princess float in the parade. Kimball got all embarrassed and them shyly blurted out, "sometimes I just like to look at pretty girls." It was so cute! We all just cracked up. (We told him that's ok as long as they're modest :)
We tried to wake thew boys up each night because we had a great view of the fireworks right out our hotel room window. They were so exhausted that they would mutter incoherently and roll back over to sleep. Peter and I had fun watching--it was like a mini date :)
Day 2 ( and 3)
California Adventure
It was really fun to see cars land (totally overcrowded, but still fun)
Bugs land was great too. The boys love driving their own bumper cars
It was fun to feel like a mini bug
This was a great moment. I just love to see pure joy in their faces. We went on the Heimlick train and there is one part where Heimlick cannot stop burping and keeps saying, "oh, exCuse me," over and over in his German accent. I looked back and Joey was just cracking up. It was a great moment.
It was a nice break to get out of the crowds and be a wilderness explorer looking for tracks and climbing on everything
The boys earned their wilderness explorer badges from Russell
All wet after the fun rapids ride
While Kimball had to use the restroom for an extended period of time (his normal 20 minute bowel movements), Joey and I went to watch a nearby show featuring Phineas and Ferb. The crew was inviting kids to come join the show and get out there and sing and dance with them. I was shocked when Joey went out in front of everyone! Even more shocked when he actually started dancing! So not normal for him to do that. So I screamed my little proud mother head off for him.
It was so fun to see him just seize the moment!
Joey and I had enough of spinning rides so Dad and Kimball got to have their own fun on the swings.
Poor Joey had a little mishap as we were exiting the above ride--Goofy's flying school. The whole control panel is right by where we exited our car. Joey was a little off balance and went to grab something to steady himself and that just happened to be the panel. One of the attendants started yelling and them more he said, the more flustered Joey got which resulted in more hands flying all over the controls. Luckily no one was sent flying off the ride, but poor Joey was really shaken up. Mostly embarrassed I think. Poor kid! A Mickey shaped pretzel helped him fell better.
We ate lunch right next to the race ride. The boys were so excited to eat lunch out of a McQueen lunch box, and super excited to see all the cool cars pass by.
The California Adventure parade was great. Better than Disneyland in my opinion
The boys has fun going to Mickey Mouse's clubhouse and being part of the show.
The streamers provided great entertainment for the boys while we walked the half mile back to the hotel.
We finally got Joey to wake up the last night to see the fire works. There's his silhouette snuggling on Dad's lap.
One of the best parts was the yummy hotel breakfast every morning. Waffles and apple jacks--could life get any better?
Joey and Kimball got to be in the Toy Story activity
Last day treat--cotton candy and churros!
We ended our day with a little photo-op with Mickey. It was a great trip. Despite my crowd intolerance (there must be a name for my disorder :), we had a great time. Don't want to do it again anytime soon, but so glad we did it! Lots of great family memories and it's just so fun to see your kids having carefree fun. And getting to be a kid with them.

Your trip looked so fun!! I absolutely loved how Joey got up and danced in that parade or whatever, that's hilarious! And we are all grateful that you document all the memories, someone's gotta do it! :)
Just don't tell my boys that this trip ever happened, k? :)
